Bringing it together

The idea was born during the pandemic, after noticing that many people desired help and many were willing to give it. However, it was a real struggle to arrange this transaction.

Some Facebook groups were formed to try and solve this problem, but it wasn't enough. It was inefficient, cumbersome, and insecure. And that is where Wolon was born.

Improving the experience

A problem I heard about from people who wanted to help, is that help-seekers were usually far away. And from the help-seekers side a main problem was data privacy. Since people don't want to post their sensitive data on some public Facebook group.

Wolon solves both these problems. The volunteers are able to adjust their preferred helping distance, and they see nearby help-seekers. However, they can not see any sensitive information until the help-seekers accepts their help offer.

Wolon 3.0

After developing Wolon, I was invited by a colleague to a hackathon were we ended up developing a multi-award winning project - Wolon 3.0, which is basically wolon on the blockchain with some added cool features.

When it comes down to it, what we really built is a sustainable ecosystem for any sort of service exchange. People who provide services get tokens which gives them controlling power over the money generated from the people who accept the services
